Hi,

My 2012 450h f-sport is very tail happy. I know its RWD and that I don't hang around, but it does seem to 'step out' without much warning at all, and at a point I would have thought that there was more tolerance. To be honest, it's good fun, but it also catches me out sometimes.

Clearly the batteries are over the rear axles and the laws of physics will take over, but I am curious as to whether anyone has put dedicated winter tyres on a GS450h and did it make a difference?

Cheers

Pete

Hi, I'm a big fan of winter tyres. Iv ran them for many years now on various cars, I have Dunlop SP winters on my VW Touareg right now and have today ordered the same tyres for our GS that I'm picking up on Saturday, yes they will make a difference imo

Hi, sounds to me your traction control is late kicking in, I have driven my GS450h for 180,000 over 5 years and have never felt more than a slight twitch through the steering as the electronics do their job in all conditions without winter tyres, even on sheet ice she has never put the tail out, only really know when it works by the yellow light flashing. I have total confidence in mine even under hard acceleration on a greasy road. I know these systems vary, I previously had a GS300 which would not allow any spirited driving before it alarmed whereas the Sportcross would almost leave me to sort it out.

Only ever run Dunlop SP tyres on the Hybrid as they seem the only ones able to survive the weight of the car.

The day I picked my 08 GS up it snowed :( and arse end was like a excited puppy dog, had the odd twitch on wet greasy roads but that's mainly down to my style of driving :) when I'm alone n roads are clear zooooooooommmmmmmm lol
