Thanks Steve (STE42), this definitely fixed it for me (It's 1400 miles ago now and is definitely not stalling or even dropping below 500rpm on tickover.

If anyone else has this problem, then check the throttle bodies are clean first, as it is quick, easy and cheap.

had similar issues a few yrs ago with mine again it was throttle body but used to switch air con on when I was about to slow down to keep the revs a little higher

that made me laugh - coming to a stop switch on the aircon! - did the trick I suppose

Ive only just spotted this post,I have the exact same problem with my car.Is it easy to clean the throttle body, for a complete novice diyer?

Or alternatively how much labour are we talking about at a garage? Moneys a bit tight after xmas.

I love this sight,it is always helpful & the members are never condescending even to people like me who are more than a bit clueless on these matters.

cheers

Hi cilgwynbaby - My Independent mechanic charged me an hours labour £55 to do this, so not that expensive.

There is a post further up this link to some photo's that show how to do it DIY, but I didn't want to risk that for just £55.

Thanks Will, that looks useful.

Update on mine - 7000 miles done and it has not stalled one, or even given me the impression that it might. So all looks good.

Final update on this one.

I've done 23K miles since I had the throttle bodies cleaned out and have not seen the car stall once in that time.

It seems it doesn't work for everyone, but it fixed my problems. Hopefully this will help someone else in the future.

It's the last update for me on this as I'm swapping it for an LS460 on Friday.

Traded in Malc. A tough decision as I have had the car nearly 14 years now.

I needed to get another one while I could still afford to do so.
