Hi, new to Lexus, but have owned one for approx. 10 years ( my wife has actually), and thw one she has is an old one, W reg but runs great. The problem she has is with the C.D.player not working and showing code 3.

She took it to Lexus, but what they priced for repair was more than the car is worth.

Ibought her a cheap dvd player to use as she loves her music, but the volume is not very good, could someone tell me if ,and how,I can connect it to the car speakers please.

Many Thanks and Happy New Year to you all.

Personally i would just buy another OEM headunit on eBay and get a GROM ipod type device for plugging in the ipod or aux. Some of those cheaper head units only have cheap surface mounted built in amps and are often not enough to drive the speakers. Although being a S spec it wont have the 8 speakers and external amp so i would of thought it would be ok. You could always buy a preamp and see if that helps assuming it has pre out

If it has an amp, it might be the reason why it is not playing loud enough?

You will have to bypass the factory amp which I believe is located on the right of the passenger footwell??

If you search for it, it should come up.

The speakers do not require an amplifier to run as long as the built in amplifier of the headunit is decent enough.

I did have two different non factory head units on my IS300 and they worked fine on there. However it was not me that originally removed the OEM headunit so I am not sure which cables they bypassed.

oohh and a silly question? assuming the DVD Radio you have is already connected? have you enabled the LOUDNESS to ON? this makes a lot of difference in some headunit on the output.
