De Cat Front Pipes

to make it short, take off the manifolds as precats are on them. Cut the pipe on the cats joints, beware of cutting only the cats, leave the lambda sensors place on the pipe. Then you just have to cut a tube at the right length and solder it where were the precats. Finally put the manifolds back and take care of connecting the lambda sensors

simple isn't it ? :whistling: you only need a TIG, 3ft of steel tube (at the pipe diameter, I haven't measured it) or better stainless tube 13mm keys and a steel saw (don't know the right word  )

think you take the down pipe off cut out the section with the pre cats in & weld in a new section of exhaust pipe....

The cannister don't need to be cut out, just the insides need to be scraped out.

ok here goes.......

and i have performed this operation once.

first, remove the manifold, this will require the bottom connection of the steering column to be released.

once the manifold is out of the car, remove the silver bright cat covers.

method 1

cut through the pipe below one cat ......then above, weld in replacement lenth....

now do the other cat.

method 2

cut open the cat....a cut along its lenth, then 1 cut either end just above the cone, peel back the casing, brake up the cat material, and remove. (where a mask and goggles...platinum dust is lethal)

once empty weld up the canister and do the second cat.

re-fit the silver bright covers, refit the manifold
