As per the title, discovered at the MOT today that the sidelights were dead. I've replaced them now but I thought it curious that the car didn't tell me about this.

Is there a fuse I can investigate? Conveniently, the page in the manual that lists the fuses has been torn out.

I've now had 2 sidelight bulbs go out now - so much for lexus reliability - I want a refund lol.

There is no warning of sidelight bulb failure - I was surprised by this too.

There is no warning for front driving lamps or number plate bulbs also. As for brake lights the red handbrake light comes on.

Disappointing also to see that replacing these bulbs requires tools, namely a small spanner/socket and a screwdriver. It's bad design, bulbs should always be fully accessible without tools.

But they do provide the tool kit too and after all it's only every 15 years that you need it !

Cheer up,a friend of mine recently paid £152 to have a bulb replaced on his Mercedes

I am absolutely chuffed that the Lexus doesn't have warnings for sidelights and numberplate lights because I have just put bright white LEDs in them and they look superb

Hope you have read the other posts from learned Members about LED bulbs and maybe it's best not to bugger about changing from OEM bulbs !!!!

Something to do with resistance levels and sodding - up the circuits.

Both my front sidelights failed recently too. I replaced them with some LED's --they've been no problem so far, though they havn't been in that long, admittedly. I don't think they are the cheap Chinese ones. Fitting them is a bit of a faff but the job only takes about 5 minutes each side once you know the foibles of removing the headlamp and indicator lenses.
