Can anyone suggest what to do first with this. Coming back from London today the air con stopped working, fairly rapidly. The compressor seems to kick in OK.

The strange thing is that even on the highest blower setting, the air doesn't seem to come out of the vents very much.

Thanks

Phil

Can only suggest you take it to a reputable Air-Con specialist (NOT Kwick Fit, they're a bunch of amateurs)). Sounds like it needs re-gassing. Don't know about the poor fan performance though. Has it EVER been re-gassed? Worth a try.

Check the pollen filter under the cd changer behind the glove box.It should be clean of debris and not impregnated with dirt.

I did replace the pollen filter 4 weeks ago, but I don't know if it has been re-gassed by the previous owner, it hasn't been done by me in the year I've owned it. I can't explain why the air doesn't flow through the vents as it should, seems odd, and the fact that the air con was OK this morning suggests a possible leak. I guess as Brian says, I need to take it to a specialist, and fear not, Kwick Fit will never see my money again!

You didn't break the flow control lever when you replaced the pollen filter did you?

I don't think I did any damage, it slipped in easily enough and has been fine for 4-5 weeks since replacing it. I took it out this morning just to check and it may be my imagination but the air seems to be flowing better again. Unfortunately it's not blowing cold. Do you think a re-gas is worthwhile, does the gas break down to the point it suddenly stops working? The guy who did my last one told me the gas just kind of disintegrates (but then again he did waffle a lot!)

If my memory serves me right you can put that air filter in upside down, worth checking. Mike
