I replaced my head unit with an after market Pioneer, using an amp bypass cable. It all works fine, however, the MW/FM reception is now pants, which I am assuming is because the aerial is no longer getting power?

Does anybody know which wire from the original loom carries the power?

The power wire for the amp is separate from the main loom. You are looking for a single black wire with a white connector.

Ah - I think I've seen it. Do you know if I can get away with connecting it to the switched output (blue and white) from the headunit?

I just had a look on the OEM head unit and there doesn't seem to be a socket for it? Have I accidentally disconnected it?

The other end is from pin 13 on the main plug..plain black and should have other end of white connector on it. If you cant find it the aerial amp just needs a 12v feed through black wire.

Got it! Cheers Ian - FM and MW restored :D and I just fitted a DAB antenna for good measure!

@Pete - it was getting a bit dark to take a photo, but I can take one tomorrow if you like. To be honest, it's pretty obvious which wire it is, once you know what to look for. The head unit I installed was a Pioneer DEH-X6500DAB - absolute bargain considering features, power, etc. we're so spoiled when I think back to the head units I was installing 20 years ago!

no worries about the picture lol

Just curious about the power feed to the antenna or it's just for certain type of car stereo.
