Aircon Probs On Hot Days

Recommended Posts

Please excuse me if this is repeating an old topic but here goes.....

My 220D had a new engine dropped in two weeks ago coutesy of the extended headgasket warranty affair (many many thanks Lexus!!). However since the cars been back I've noticed a new issue with the aircon. On a "normal" day eg 20 - 24degrees C the aircon will blow cold air all day long and the bulkhead refrigerant delivery pipework almnst gets too cold to touch. However on hot days (eg over 25 degrees or so) the AC simply does kick in at all and the same underbonnet pipework stays warm. Also, on hot days, the fan keeps kicking in for a couple of seconds every ten or so seconds as opposed to cooler days when it kicks in for a minute or so to do its stuff on the high pressure side.

Its booked into Lexus for Friday but I'd like to have a decentish idea of what I'm up against befiore then. The AC worked absolutely perfectly before the engine swap so I'm assuming theres a crushed pipe / disconnected wire / whatever. Its also been hinted (by someone at Lexus) that this could be an issue that has nothing whatsoever to do with teh engine swap.
