Has any body removed or got a guide on how to remove the roof rails please. Mine are now showing signs of corrosion underneath where they fit to roof so was looking at removal and powder coating but was unsure how much has to be stripped down to expose fixings etc, any advise appreciated.

Phil.

You should be able to pry off the end plastic caps which expose the bolts to remove the whole rail.

I found this on the web - easier to just link to this with pictures rather trying to explain in more detail

I had mine removed by Lexus Bracknell (Dealer now closed, but one in Reading) about six years ago and cost about £150. Sold the roof bars to someone on the LOC Forum for £50.

I have always thought that the RX range looks far better without them (Lexus have now realised this, as there are none on the RX450h).

I am sure it is a DIY job, as long as you get all the parts to properly finish the job off, otherwise it will look awful.

Good luck (see if you can flog the bars and get some money back !!)

Well roof rails removed today, bit tricky getting the plastic covers off but off they did. Have taken them to the powdercoaters and will be ready to pick up next week £40.00 . Will make them look better and be better protected. Thought about leaving them off but are handy sometimes when needed so will be refitting. Thanks for everyone's help on how to remove.
