New Head Unit Is200

Recommended Posts

Hey there. :)

I'm new to this forum, and i really did try to find the answer to my question here and on other places on the web.

What i'm wondering about is this: i want to change to this head unit /player http://www.xtrons.co.uk/GPS-car-dvd/7-Android-tablet-3G-WIFI-HD-Bluetooth-iPod-car-DVD-player&Tablet-PC-TD718AV.html#Ques , and i want to use the original amp, but all i can find is cables BYPASSING it.
Like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-IS200-2001-2004-Car-CD-Stereo-Fascia-Fitting-Kit-CT24LX01-with-CT51-LX01-/251110025057?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a7752e761

Why is that? I would like to think that the sound will be better with the amp still in use...?

I'm sorry for starting a new post about this, but i can't seem to find the right answer to it..

Thanks in advance

If you want to use original amp, you will have to use pre-outs on new stereo and add phone plugs to existing amp inputs.

I did this on my previous is200 and sounded great.

Will post wire colours if needed.

Thanks for the answers Ian. :)

Hmm.. I guess if the original amp was worth keeping, there would be a cable that let's u use it.. :P

But will i have enough 'power' just by using the built-in amp on a standard stereo?
Maybe the original one is just the same as a built-in one on newer systems?

Probably will be good quality anyway as you say, For everyday use headunit built in amp will be sufficient. I had mine wired with a kenwood unit, Just made bass punchier than built in unit.
