Info On This Lexus Ls400

I am sure this has been on before, everything looks OK as is the description but unless you go and see the car you can never be sure. Mike

Just a thought ....... . the cambelt needs only to have been changed the once at 100k miles ....... he says 3 times ... and the open bonnet shows lots of autumnal dead stuff .... has it been around since last autumn being sold I wonder ........ otherwise, at first glance, seems great value at only £1000.

the cambelt should be changed every 62000miles,so perhaps its been changed early ,it looks good value, you need to go have alook ,check servicing etc,cambelt change, the guy has sold a few ls400 on eBay,would be well worth a look for that money,as for leaves i used to leave mine by trees, the scuttle would get like that a few days after cleaning it out,i dont think its going to be perfect but its not £2/2500 so has to be viewed in that in mind,it certainly would'nt put me off

Seems a really good buy, as for the cambelt original intervals were 67k so that would mean 2 but may have had a water pump fail & the belt changed as a mater of course. Well worth a look at that money with that history.

Just thought the Mk4 cambelt change was at 100k miles !!!

I think the Mk4 cambelt change is every 62K miles or 5 years, so the three changes may have been made as much by the calendar as the mileometer.

The seller is the guy I bought my Mk4 from back in March. It has been great and I'm very happy with the purchase.

It was originally 62k but was revised to 100k when the 430 came out with a 100k interval as its the same engine.

My MKIV's was done at 90,000 by PO and that was at Lexus's suggestion according to the service history.

My 1995 GS 300 was 60,000 intervals or the 5 year rule.

The cambelt change is variable for all sorts of reasons

My Mark 1V had the cambelt change at 19500 miles because it took 14 years to get there but the techy who changed it said it was good as new .When you buy a car you have to think out side the service schedule if age comes into the scenario.

My mark 1 owners manual said unless the car had been used as a taxi or delivery vehicle the cambelt did not have a mileage change interval but if you spoke to Lexus they suggested a 60k interval was safer.

I have just replaced what to most people would seem to be perfectly good tyres with 10000 miles on them but as original tyres on a fifteen year old Lexus they are way past there safe running date.

So when you buy the Japenese Rolls Royce there will be hidden costs that apply just because it is a quality car that time catches up with.

Very good advice and regarding the cam belt change as Ambermarine mentions there is no specific change period for the earlier models at least. All the handbook says for both A and B service is to check its condition during the service.
