Well after three weeks I have my beloved back. The following has been done...

Cam belt kit with pulley and tensioner, water pump.

Whilst apart, they advised that the alternator tensioner pulley and guide pulley were worn so they were done too. Also the viscous fan coupling was noisy, so that too!

Dizzy cap and rotor arm, are there two? They have charged for one. New auxiliary belts.

MoT and short service with multivis 5/40 synthetic oil.. Phew!

She failed the MoT on loose wiper blades due to my incompetence and a failed side bulb!

Advisory was a slight leek from the steering rack, they have put a tin of Forte in to try and swell the seals but did say it wasn,'t too bad. Total cost£1446, does this seem expensive?

I did look at the old belt which was due on mileage at 61000 but overdue by a year. It wasn't too bad and not going to fail soon but not looking too good either, I wouldn't want to leave it too much longer. Oh, the mileage is 184000.

Mark.

Well done, Mark. Everything you did is worth every penny. I treat my LS 400 in the same fashion. Mileage? 227,200 and counting.

Work was done by Robinson and Young in Wem, Renault specialists.

Forgot to say I supplied the Toyota red anti-freeze and de-ionised water.

Lexus Chester quoted me £1000 just for the MoT, cam belt and water pump!

I'll try to get some pictures over the weekend.

It does sound expensive for a non Lexus/Toyota dealer plus it took 3 weeks!

So I guess the work was fitted in around other repairs as and when the time allowed.

Were all the parts OEM or aftermarket?

I think they were pattern parts. The problem with time was that as they found more worn parts they waited to contact me before ordering. They then had to wait for bits to be delivered, the work was mostly done by one of my ex-pupils, a lovely girl who I would trust to be honest in her appraisal. But yes, I think it was a bit more than I had hoped, however they were the most reasonable for the original quote. Let's hope next year is just the MoT as I hope to do the oil change myself. The trouble is I've been spoiled by my Land Cruiser as it's so high off the ground and easy to access the filter I can do it in almost 10 minutes flat, the Lexus is a bit more daunting!
