For some time now, I've been storing up a lot of questions on the automatic a/c controls on my IS250 F-Sport MY2011.

The time has come for me to really get to the bottom of how it works!

Hence, the rolling-up of my sleeves :-)

Section 7 of the Navigation System Owner's Manual is nearly as bad in explaining things as the "Radio operation" sub-section of Section 6, "Audio/Video System".

To start with.

Page 272, "Switching between outside air and re-circulated air modes"

That says when the system is switched to automatic mode (by pressing the air intake control button to give automatic mode), _the a/c system operates automatically_.

Why does that happen?

What is the purpose of it?

If you are stuck in traffic it will automatically go to re-circulate to keep the fumes out.

Yes, that works really well for me.

No problem about that.

Sorry to jump on an old post but could someone help me.

my auto air con for the past few days seems to just go to the foot well option. Also when it's on if I remember correctly it used to change from the air outside to just the air inside. Mine doesn't so that anymore and also if I remember correctly if I pressed the air to come from outside it cancelled the air con. Thanks

mine always goes into the foot well on auto, but when warmed up it add the dash vents as well

does manual control mean the compressor is off? i mean that a/c is not engaged and its old school?

Posted

No it will still run, you turn it off on the touch screen/climate menu

Auto defaults it to on

I leave mine on, don't think it matters so much nowadays, I'm remember old school it would kill your economy!

It keeps the car from steaming up in winter as well

mine is always on, I was just wondering if it could be turned off. I guess you mean that A/C touch button on the bottom left of the screen to disengage it.

Thats the beauty, even with that off the system still works in auto which is good
