Exhaust Help

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Exhaust went yesterday, so after 10 years of IS this is a first for me. I know nothing about the exhaust, but I put it on a pair of ramps this morning and in the middle of the car is a longish slender box (is this a resonator?) which tapers at both ends. At the rear end, right at the end of the taper, it has become wholly detached from the back pipe. I assume that the orig box part was attached on the pipe, so it seems I would need the long pipe, right back to the rear.......make sense or new full exhaust? Is it SS now? Would it break my piggy bank????

Hello, from your write up I seem to rather that the resonator is still intact however what seems to have happened is that it has come away/part where it has been bolted/screwed on,rather than shell out on a new exhaust have it looked at first(except you want a new one anyway) as they might be able to screw it back on.I wanted a SS one on mine so had it changed but kept have OEM one which is still in a relatively good nick even after almost 10 years.
