Going thru a bad patch at the moment.why does the Ac always pack up when it's hot?. Anyway,have just had rad and condenser(bargain from Discount ac parts on eBay) replaced to find that my Ac pipes are corroded!.am waiting for a painful diagnosis from my man at Lexus Reading.anyone else replaced this and how big was the needle on the injection ?

Hi from a new owner in Reading.

I was interested to know if you have managed to sort out your AC pipe issue and if so what course of action did you take and its cost? I have bought a Lexus and was told it just needed a regas, but alas it actually needs new pipes - a great start to ownership.

Hi guys, there are threads on here referring specifically to the corroding aircon pipes on the 430 ....... it might be, if I remember correctly, that the rear aircon pipes are probably best just blanked off to protect the national debt ...... I'm being serious here.

Oh that's not good news - one of the reasons the 'mrs' let me buy the car was the fridge for the little ones drinks - so how can I spin this without getting my ear chewed (yes I am under the thumb).

LOL Yeah.I know I will be able to get away with it if it stays cool but will need a resolve at somepoint. I had heard it can be costly but will see whats what and will get it on a ramp in the next couple of weeks to see if I can sort it.

IIRC it's quite a labour intensive job to replace the pipework on the rear AC so that is why the cost soon mounts up.

You could always put a couple of those freeze packs they use in cool boxes to keep the drinks cold on a long journey, sneak them in just before you leave and hope the kids don't notice :)

Had mine repaired today by an AC specialist company (will post their name in a few weeks if all going well) and by god, the AC in the lexus when working fully is bloody freezing. I have had merc, jag and beemers and all are nothing on this fridge, lol.

No was actually fairly cheap. was kind of a favour as done through a mate of a mate, lol but cost £160

Sorry for the delay. A lack of funds means that I have yet to repair the AC pipes!!. My mate will do the labour for £60 ,but the pipes are approx £700.00

£700 for the pipes? which ones have gone wrong s when I was looking there are two from front to back nd one was £142 and the other £160 (+ VAT). Its the labour that's the killer on this as my lexus quoted me 9 hours and even my indy wanted £3-400 labour.

The company I used are high pressure and ac specialists based in Reading. They need a ramp to do the fix (available in various places to high for about 30 an hour) And then they charge for the piping and about an hours labour. (depending on where it is gone). I am assured that this is better than getting new pipes as it removes the corrosion prone areas and replaces them with something that wont break again. The only reason I am holding back on naming names is incase the clamps on the pipes go - just in case. so will give it a few more weeks and will send them your way.
