Toyota Towbar Same As Lexus?

Not sure what you are trying to find out, but if you ask a Lexus dealer to fit a detachable towbar to your car, it will most likely be a Westfalia branded model.

Check their website for details.

well the thread implies that you can go to a Toyota dealer and buy a towbar for a Highlander for about £150 that is both a genuine Toyota part AND a genuine Lexus part because it has both numbers stamped on it. But I can't find a pic of it and I suspect that it may not be the detachable type. Just wondered if any owners over here had done this.

eBay.com has plenty of pics if you search for a highlander tow hitch.

Your post gave me the idea of looking there to see what the yanks paid for LS towbars, and whether a Toyota equivalent existed............seems not.

Michael - from the pics I have looked at the part SEEMS to be a visible framework that you bolt a ball to (not what I want), but some pics look like there is a rectangular female section that might be to take a male slot in part? Is that what you concluded

I'm always wary of coming to any conclusion, based on eBay pictures Mike.

But yes, the ones I looked at seemed to have a rectangular receiver which accomodates a detachable part, which in turn receives a tow ball, fixed by a single vertical bolt.

Here is an example.

There was mention of not being compatible with some models (full sized spare wheel was a consideration), on the auction that this picture refers to.
