Another Great Trip In The Ls400...

Recommended Posts

Not a startling topic to post here, I'm sure most Old Lexonians have heard all this before,( and no doubt, had the experience)of having just arrived back from a long weekend spent in Scotland, -my 5th In as many months, I just had to share the sheer pleasure of the Lexus Driving Experience, I have made this trip from MK to Scotland dozens of times in the last 30-odd years, using over that period various vehicles I've owned: Land Rover,Ford Fiesta,Jeep CJ8,Porsche Carerra,Citroen 2CV-.....(yes,I know, don't ask) BMW 7 series, plus various motor cycles, but nothing, has ever compared with my old Lexus LS400, these last few trips have been exercises in comfort, reliability, -pretty good MPG, given the engine size,my only problem driving it on Motorways?......resisting the strong impulse to flatten my foot to the floor when presented with a clear road, that V8 is just bustin' to go, and before you know it,its runnin' away with you, -sheer driving pleasure-great fun-I want another LS400........

Brilliant, Grand Touring at its best .. I did Kent to Scotland and around, some 2888 miles, last September, brilliant motoring over some 15 days and OMG, averaging some 30mpg too.

The LS400 is the most brilliant car for Grand Touring ... the LS400GT then hehehehehe

Agree that the urge to go quick is high, but last year did a Glos, Grange Sands, Arbroth, Newcastle to Glos round trip. Did a fair bit at a steady 55-60 and was getting 34 to 36pmg.

A great car to drive while watching the Lune Valley, Shap, The Northumbrian Coast and the Pennines drift by.

So felt no need to go any faster.

Having been in a Porche 911, DB9 not so sure I would want to do the trip in them, and also not keen of doing it in Range Rover, great views, but need good breakdown cover!

Lexus 400 - a car to make you slow down and appreciate life (but with welly when you need it)

Just did a trip from Cheshire to Birmingham and back in mine today. Scenery wasn't brilliant but the car was! Didn't miss a beat and, as you all know, just a great place to be.

What a timely topic. I just returned from North Yorkshire having attended a wedding yesterday near Boroughbridge. 540 miles in total mostly on motorways at 70 mph. My wife loved the journey and caught up with the weekend papers. My LS 400 performed flawlessly and returned 30.31 mpg, and the odometer shows 227,051 miles. I'm never going to sell this car, and being 72, it will be rather easy to keep my promise. Need I say more?

A few years ago when I had my previous LS400, I drove 130 miles to Somerset. Our black whippet cross dog was in the front passenger foot well in his bed, when I arrived I had to call him to wake him up! That's never happened in any other car.

Totally agree, nothing beats driving over the Yorkshire Moors. Miles of roads which have never been dug up, nothing underneath to dig up for, just wafting along amidst fantastic scenery.

Just come back from Southern Ireland, now there's some stunning scenery, (didn't drive though).
