i cleaned my egr valve on my old saab 9-3 but when i did this i got the cel come on and then it was a buger to start again so my questions are

should you disconnect the Battery when you do it?

do you need to reset your windows ( i found a page on this when Battery was disconnected)

is it a bugger to get started again being a push button start

any other little pointers when cleaning it or things that may happen when reconnected?

If you disconnect the Battery you will need to re-initialise your windows.

I have cleaned my sons EGR valve four times and did not disconnect the Battery once. Just disconnected the leads to the EGR, removed it from the car, cleaned it and then refitted it. Never had a problem yet. Takes me about 30 mins start to finish. You will need a god socket set with a range of extensions to get at the tube bolts at the back of the engine block. You will need to undo these to lift the top pipe from the EGR.
