Suspension Arm Corrosion

Hi ppl. My MOT is coming up in August so i want to iron out any potential problems. This is 2 of 2 that may come up. The suspension arm looks more coroded on one side than the other with flaking rust peeling off the arm but also the small upper control arm (if thats what its called?)

Is this going to be a MOT problem?

Shouldn't fail on that Pete, looks like it's only surface rust and the arm above it is the anti roll bar. Only thing they could fail it on is excessive play in rubber bushes.

My mate (an MOT tester) says bushes are only an advisory or in some cases they don't even bother with that, not a fail :)

Didn't know that Chris, thought excessive play was a fail.

I'm on about control arm bushings... My bad or r they the same thing?

Excessive play in any suspension component is a fail, but i dont think it applies to arb bushes,

The bushes I replaced on the lower control arm isn't an MOT fail or an advisory that's all I know. Sorry for confusing.....

Could be me getting it wrong Chris, Haven't been near any oily bits for a year or so now, due too mobility problems and either son or wife takes it for MOT.
