Is300 Heated Mirrors

Recommended Posts

Had the Sportcross a year now, all good except some very nasty tyres which were on when bought. I noticed a blackening (more dark blue I guess) of a small area at the bottom edge of the passenger wing mirror a while back and now the driver side has gone the same way. The affected areas are also warm to the touch (hopefully this is only occurring when the ignition is on!) The heated mirrors are supposed to be switched off with the rear screen which I know switches on/off correctly, anyone heard of this before or know where in the loom the fault is likely to be? Or is the fault in the mirrors?

Wont be the heated part of the mirror, The is300 has photochromatic mirrors which darken along with the rear view mirror at night to stop dazzle. The units sometimes 'bleed' with age (same liquid as lcd watches).Only option is to replace them im afraid. The glass should be available separately, contact AClex on here, he's the parts manager at lexus poole.

Cheers for the info, the mirrors still work OK otherwise but I never noticed the mirror being warm all the time before, is that usual? I suppose I, like most people don't touch the glass unless washing the car, and I dont have the ignition on doing that.
