Check Vsc, Traction Control, Engine Lights And Transmission

Recommended Posts

I'm having problems with the transmission of my lexus is250 auto 2007, the check VSC, traction control and Engine lights come on. The dealer is saying gearbox needs replacing, which will cost me £5000-£6000. Can anyone help me please. The gears do slip, get stuck on 3rd or 4th gear and doesnt change to 5th or 6th. I really don't want to spend that much money and need as much help as possible. Thanks

Just try to remember!! ..all those lights came on after filling at the petrol station? ? No gossips, happened to me: the fuel cap (plastic) has a click when u turn to close it and even when it does click if u turn slowly back as if u wanna open it and its too soft and easy means it doesn't close properly therefore u get fumes leaks wich makes ur dash lit like a Xmas tree!!!! Couldbe a 40£ fix buying a new cap or could be 4-6k engine rebuild how I read myself here on forum! I lost 2days sleep when it happened to me ..10days ago. Hope ur as lucky as I was. Good luck.

Sorry but I reread your post and I have to add this: go to another one or two lexus dealers (get diff opinions) and you'll be surprised to realised the sentence you mite get !! That will make you understand how ripp off the dealers are and how incompetents also. Try ur local garage also.

In my opinion all the lights you got has nothing to do with the gear. You do have a problem with ur gear wich needs asap fix though, no question about this !!

I had the check vsc issue last year and intermittent power issues. Read the code and it was related the Solenoid D. Took to the dealer and they took apart the pan and tested the solenoids and replaced Solenoid D and put new fluid in. Since then it's been fine, but transmission seems a bit jerky since then. When you say transmission slips on 3rd and 4th, how do you know tranny is slipping?
