I dunno why but these 93/94 cars (i think they were) are my fav yet I have never had one?

Anyone here like to whet my appetite and tell me the good, the bad and the ugly?

Ok ,just my opinion of the Mk2 compared with the later cars ,I have owned a Mk2 for over two years now and also have two Mk3's just love these cars.

The good, has the light and wiper stalks the right way round ,why they changed that I do not know gets to be a pain when you have both cars . The Mk2 seems more solid to me , the leather on the centre arm rest and front door handles seems to be harder wearing , the seat heaters work , the engine is non interference so hopefully no damage should a cam belt go, it dosent have the top engine cover which I find a pain on the Mk3 ,the front fogs are much better being yellow tinted and seperate from the headlights, I also prefer the straight back and forward gear shift over the gated one, has visible rear exhaust tailpipes.

The bad , glove box very small they should have used all the space below as on the Mk3, power steering pumps sometimes leak onto the alternator ,the dash lights can be a problem but are easily fixed ,the seats are not as comfortable as the MK3 but the head rests are better, front brakes not quite as good as the Mk3 but still stop ok,not quite as quick .

The ugly ,only a lap belt in middle rear seat and the seat has a bit of a lump which is not nice to sit on so I am told, not a problem for me though, the climate LCD dies and can be costly to replace if you cannot solder very well.

Everybody will have there own opinion ,I could probably think of a few more things in time but my fingers are numb from all this typing.

Also the Mk2's can be picked up for few hundred pounds ,so if you really would like one dont leave it to long or there wont be any left,

My first LS was a 93 with 107K, 131K when I sold it. My plan was to keep it for a year but it turned out to be 5! It was the most reliable car I've ever had, probably costing me no more than £200 in repair bills. That obviously doesn't include service costs. Mine had all the usual little things go wrong like power steering pump leaking, heated seats not working, dash lights blinking when cold, some dashboard displays blacked out. The important things I fixed but the less important didn't really bother me. In a lot of ways I still prefer the look of the front on the early ones. I do however think the MK4 takes some beating.

To me the only downside is the possible cost of some parts, but then you don't buy a car like this without knowing that in the first place. One of the things I love about the LS400 is the fact that they're so uncommon, unlike the rivals!
