New Is200 Owner

Hi All,

Proud new owner of an old IS200 :-) I'm from South Africa and found a 13 year old in fairly good nick with just 84000kms on the clock. Just fitted a new set of Michelins and took her for a roadworthy test and she passed with flying colours.

I've been dreaming about owning an is200 since 1998 and am so happy I now own one :-)

Glad to have found a good resource for info on this car - there are not many of them around here in SA as Lexus didnt have a formal presence here when the is200 was imported.(they were imported by Toyota)

Well, the body has had some repair work done to it on the passenger door and the back door on one side. The workmanship was not bad, but I somewhat have a good eye for picking up body work. The paint is not so great - i can see it wasnt cared for the way one should care for a Lexus. The interior is in really good shape - even the six disk changer still works fine!

Will post some pics over the weekend. Plan on giving her a full paint makeover tomorrow....wash, clay bar, polish and then wax.

Once that is all done, I'll take some pics and post em.

Jason , welcome my friend to a very helpful forum and all queries solved. I dont suppose there will be much underbody rust on the car , better climate than cold old england.

Welcome to the site Jason. It appears that even those who didn't care for the car too much, they seem to retain much of that original build quality and repairing them is easy. Will be good to see some photos.
