Power Steering Fluid

I believe the correct ps fluid is dextron 2 for my 98 ls400, (think thats what it says on reservoir cap) however when i went to my local motofactors today they only had dextron 3.

(of course, its possible it actually has dextron 3 in it, but theres no way i can tell!)

is it ok for me to mix the two versions ? or in the absence of me knowing whats in there already is it best for me to do a complete change?

The book says 2 or 3, cant see a prob mixing, ask motor factor store . i will check ?

I mixed dex 2 and 3 together in my IS200. I had no problems. Dex 3 is red and dex 2 is blue so when I mixed it it went black! But like I said I had no problems after mixing them. Ran it like that for 8 months until I drained and refilled it all with dex 3.
