Chewing Gum Stuck To My Car Mats

What's the best method in getting chewing gum out of my car mat? Is there any decent product I could use to remove the gum with?

I've tried the old trick of using ice cubes to freeze it and then peel it off, but it didn't work

Can you place the mat in the freezer ,if so try that and then scrape it off.

Quick search came up with mayonnaise,peanut butter,wd40, and another vinegar but heat gum up first ,not sure if it's brown or white bread ;)

There is a stuff you can get to remove chewing gum, it's called "Stain Devils" chewing gum remover ........ you can normally get it from supermarkets, Wilkinsons or do a search on the net.

best method I have used is to freeze the gum with compressed air like the stuff you get at model shops for air brushes.

then take a hammer and smash it off , you have to make sure its frozen solid first ,or else you could end up mashing the gum further into the shag. B)

could try nail polish remover

try it first on another unseen spot

but usally works well

wash afterwards

You can eat it in your car... just don't spit it out onto the floor...

Worst comes to worst... get a standley knife and 'cut' it off... it'll take most of the pile, and leave a 'bald' patch though..

Nail polish remover is made of Acetone

I reckon the best thing to do is feeze it though - you can get freezer spray from Maplins

Maybe it's like blu-tac and you have to use a larger piece of chewing gum to rub out the smaller piece. Of course this could make an even worse mess!

Or you could cover the rest of the mat and the other three mats with used chewing gum. Will work well on Lexus' with Andorra leather interior.

a steam cleaner might work,know any carpet cleaners in your area

Freezer spray (Servisol type) from RS components works, but Methalated Spirit also works well. you don't need much, but you can always drink the rest!!!! :)
