Diving In France (As Of 11-2-13)

Going over to France for a fortnight in late June. Just had a communication from Brittany Ferries with an update of interest.

Further to all that talk/guff about breathalysers having to be carried in cars,

" The law for it to be obligatory for vehicles in France to carry a breathalyser has been postponed indefinitely" So don't get ripped off at the Ferry Port for something that is not at present required.

Mind you, you should still carry/fit

Reflective Jacket/Waistcoat for wearing at roadside work on your vehicle (But keep it in the glovebox or the more agressive Gendarme will do you for having to retrieve it from the boot!)

Spare set of bulbs (recommended, not obligatory)

Warning Triangle

Headlight Deflectors

GB sticker, or have GB plates fitted.

There are a host of other items that can be considered too, mostly down to individual thought processes.

I'd take a Green Card kit too...just in case

Is there a warning triangle present as standard in an IS200 (see how much I've used the car)... :whistling:

Is there a certain minimum size for the GB sticker?

I haven't taken any of my UK cars to the other side for some time as I had another two cars in Holland so always flown over but we're taking the IS to Holland and then lower Germany this summer so will be crossing to France most likely.

No triangle was supplied in my is200. Not one in the is250 either. :msn-oh: Had my own for about 6 years though!!

GB sticker size...can of worms well and truly opened...wriggly things all over the place!! Honestly dont know..but probably, to answer your question. Just have GB number plates. Much easier no nasty sticky things on my car thank you. :whistling:

You don't even need to bother too much with GB stickers. You should see how many UK cars drive around here, being kept as "holiday cars" at the villas of wealthy Brits... Many of them are old prestige cars they used first as daily in the UK and now retire to the Med'. None with GB plate

Very true...until you run into a grumpy gendarme on a motorbike. They can be right gits on occasions!!

Never had grumpy Gendarmes. Been pulled quite a few times over (doing Monaco - Brussels every few weeks with an S63 is a bit a nightmare), but they're always polite and friendly.

They always reviewed the speed so it would not exceed 170km/h hence avoiding to withdraw my licence :)
