Today I notices a white patch in between the two pieces af glass on my LS430 rear off side door

Has anyone changed the glass themselves and is it an easy job?

Also any idea of the cost I assume it's a dealer part only.

Never changed so can't say how difficult it is.

You could try eBay for the glass if you find a scrapper car

Only trouble with second hand glass it fails with age so I could end up in the same position.

Not looking forward to getting a price on Monday.

I could have sworn some vandals through a stone at your window?!

Maybe Autoglass will replace it for your excess...!

Hmm interesting comment bearing in mind posts elsewhere.

On another note, this delamination is new to me, is it really that common? Genuine question no sarcasm intended just thinking a second hand one might be worth the risk if its not common. I will keep my eye on this thread for the purposes of educating myself further.

It is common as the cars get older I'm afraid.

I feel new glass is the only way to go.

Looks like I've been lucky all these years then. I shall reflect on my good luck.

Thanks for the info.

Presumably this delamination doesn't occur with the LS400 ? I've never sen it !

Not sure, if you open the windows on the 430 you can see there are 2 pieces of glass bonded together. They did this to reduce wind noise. I don't have a 400 so couldn't say.

Yes its very common on the ls430. Dealers said you will have to replace the glass but even then it will happen again. It doesnt happen on the ls400 though. Thats another reason why I think the ls400 is a better car than the ls430

Well it's going to be £320 plus vat.

And to top it the Battery failed today so that's another £80.

Is it that bad that it really needs doing Steve? Have you tried amayama?

319 usd from amayama if you wait for it to come from the UAE..?

I will get it done when the weather picks up as I like my cars to be right.

I gues it's all part of running one of these cars at some point they cost you but it's worth it.

Digging up an old post here but has anyone got a quick fix for this or is it glass replacement!

My car has a fault on both rear side windows, a little grey area at centre bottom.

I was quoted £400 each for a second hand one that would be guaranteed for life !! Whatever that's worth.

Posted

Go scrap yard.

Taking the door card of a LS400 is not easy and takes some doing and patience. I would imagine same for LS430. But definetely do able.

Lexus Sheffield quoted £400 for new glass fitted.

Still got mine to do.

My bosses old ls430 did the same rear ns years ago, his car at time was only 4yrs old and Lexus replaced it free of charge years later happened again n out of warranty so just put up with it .....LS430,460 n 600 are all double glazed windows

why is it that only the quarter glass seems to have this problem and not the the others.
