Those With S/c

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

i have a question for those with the S/C fitted.. What airfilter arrangment have you gone for..by that i mean. have you fitted the TTE air filter box arrangment. or have you gone the other route of the carbon fibre pipe and mushroom shaped filter..

Zee will give you more detail I am sure but if you read his signature you will know what it takes to have a show stopping car! The induction kit he has is wild man!

Agreed,, i have the TDi induction kit on there, but my only gripe is the noise it makes when sucking in the air after a hard acceleration.. which is why im thinking of sticking the TTE box on...

Are you just finalising the paper work on the re-mortgage? :o

Well that's a coincidence - posted some mortgage paperwork this morning.

Not for the filter though, that's just a replacement panel @ about 35quid.

They're obviously in very short supply at the moment hey Mark :whistling:

well, in theory an open element filter induction.....would be better, but only if it is out of the warm air atmosphere of the engine bay......This is critical

the TTE airbox, is tested, and proven, and has a cold air snorkle feeding the filter element with cool air, and is somewhat fed by a "ram " effect

to be honest i find no disadvantages with the TTE airbox, it does as its supposed to

as i have said with the induction kit......it needs cold air to be usefull

YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR TTE AIRBOX

And i will....

But out of interest Mat, what are the adv / dis-advantages of going with the TTE box or an induction arrangement..

You might get a bit more power with the induction kit, not sure if anyone has tested this or not though. I'm pretty sure that if an induction kit would give significant gains TTE would have fitted it instead of the airbox arrangement. I would gues the induction kit is only useful if you increase the boost on the S/C, same applies for the intercooler, the uprated intercooler is only needed if you go past stage 1 on the S/C.

TTE did state, that they would be intrested to see figures for the intercooler, as they couldnt quite see where the gain would come from with it.

due to 80+% of the core still sitting behind the bumper.

they also stated that the STD intercooler is flowed for more than the supercharger in its factory state can produce

just pointing this out, and without the TDI Data neither can i or TTE dispute the intercooler other than by the use of paper calculations

the tte box i have fitted doesnt make much difference than pre s/charger in the noise stakes

nobody noticed at jae , when i pulled in ,:lol::lol:

my point exactly, thats the main reason i'm gona put the TTE box on..

so if i am thinking right

with this hot weather we are having, performance isnt what it is supposed to be

if we lived in iceland we would all be going faster

does this make a difference on dyno testing and results ?

i know they fan the engine but it must make a difference if its cold or hot

Technically yes Bazza

a car has better performance in cold air....as cold air is denser, the denser the air the more oxygen that is within the air, the more oxygen the better the combustion.

hot air is far less denser.....this is why an open element filter should be at the very least fed by a cold air feed from somewhere ...if not it drawes in the heated aiir within the engine compartment

this is why on my car we have the Huge intercooler, as this is an Air to Air cooler, as the car moves in a forward motion the warm air from the turbos will be fed through this, where it is cooled by the flow and motion of the air/car..so on entering the engine it is a cooler denser air than left the turbo......plus it is fed under compression from the turbo
