First Lexus after a string of Beemers.

My car is a 58plate and has 65k on the clock. Currently causing concern in two ways I should probably post to the iS forums:-

a) the engine seems to want to idle at 1200rpm and hesitates very distinctly during acceleration through approx 3000rpm

Could this be EGR related?

B) the back end seems to want to break loose under very moderate cornering loads (v scary).

Lovely car otherwise but these two issues are giving me doubts.

Hello and Welcome.

Does the car always idle at 1200rpm? Even when warm? If so try cleaning the throttle body and DPF filter or like you say could be EGR related.

I found the IS200 and IS220d twitchy at the back when I first drove them and I came from BMW and Honda so maybe it just needs getting used to or as Steve says check the tread of your tyres or maybe you have a 'budgets' on there.

Happy New Year to you too or Gelukkig Nieuw Jaar if we're talking foreign....

My (old shape IS) is rather twitchy at the rear but it came with 'plastic' tyres on the rear.. Waiting for the snow to hit (end of Jan I hope) so I can sort the summers out.
