Is 200 Sport

Recommended Posts

Dragging this back on topic.... I think this thread shows that the IS is a car for all ages... from 23 to 43 (and beyond??)

It has something to offer everyone... and if your wife thinks it's an old mans car... let her have a drive.. :D

So come on, who has had stick generally for owning a Lexus??

I got a bit of gyp when Allan Partridge made them popular. then Steve Coogan came on Top Gear and rubbed salt in the wound...

Generally everyone I know and meet really likes my car. My Group MD had two then went to the Merc S430 had to be picked up roadside at least half adozen times in near three years.

My Group FD has just bought his wife a platinum Ice IS 200 SE with Exmoor trim. from SHefield is the chap and yet got his car and picked it up from Park Lane....

Loved it on its maiden voyage to midd-scotland on a friday afternoon!

...not wishing to offend. but I would have thought the IS200 owners would have had more ribbing about driving a girls car. the Car has many female owners and lots of the styling cues are clear to appeal to birds.

I know mate...

but I don't think the majority of lexus owners are represented here.

I didn't feel, "among my own" when at the open road day.

it was clear however that many were not existing customers and were "taking it very seriously"

At work, my IS is jokingly referred to as my "pipe & slippers" car, suggesting that people would think it's an old duffers car. But actually stop & talk to people who say that, they come back with...

1) It actually looks the dogs b's

2) I guess it's a really sound buying choice (low depreciation, great quality, etc)

3) Those dealers have a great reputation.

Really tho, I find that most blokes you talk to will have an opinion on practically every make/model of car. Not so with the Lexus, seems to be a bit of an unknown - after all, it's a low volume niche car that isn't a hand-built sports car!

What was interesting was the remark made in AutoExpress when they tested the IS against the new Avensis. They said something like the Lexus image sits with the LS430....

Anyway, everyone's who's been in it loves it to bits, haven't had a single bad word from anyone! :) B)

drifting off topic slightly but isn't the new Avensis Deisel quicker than a Lexus IS200? :shutit:

Good job the IS will be getting diesel next year then *oops, cat out of the bag!*

but then the new model will also have a coupe and a Cabriolet so I wonder who they are going up against...? :whistling:

mention free food and something to do for the afternoon and they will be there
