PWR means "power mode" - it doesn't actually give any extra power, it just holds the gears longer, and shifts gears without having to fully kick down. On both my mk2's, I didn't find the PWR setting as noticeable as my mk1.

ECT means "Electronically Controlled Transmission" - This is the standard setting, the whizzy bit is that the ecu learns the way you drive, and adapts the gear changes to your style..... supposedly. It is reset on Battery disconnect (the only way to clear it down - and can be handy if you are a new owner so that it learns you from scratch, and not how the old owner drove and slowly learn yoru style). Hard to tell how much difference it makes, and probably the only real way to tell is reset it every now and again and see if it feels any different.

Snow means "Snow" - It basically deadens the throttle response. Makes it easier to pull away in snow without wheel spins etc.
