Does anyone know where I can buy a converter plug so that my OBD2 reader will plug into the connector on my Mk3 400? I am assuming I have the right connecter, under the dash just the right of the steerihg column. 17 pin circular. My reader has the standard oblong connecter on it.

Hi I thought OBD was a standard that included the connector - perhaps it does with OBDII. I saw this site on the net that had a lot of different adapters on it you will probably find what you need here and then source it locally. http://www.made-in-c...Adapter-1.html.

Good luck

Yes I thought it was a standard as well. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but the only connector I can find inside the car is the white nylon round one with a cover on it next to the steering column. 17 pin by the look of it. I've tried eBay and there are a lot of adapters for Jap cars but not one for Lexus. The Toyota one doesn't look anything like the one on my car. Strange!

I've not found the thread, but there was one recently mentioning obd2 readers that were good value and worked. One might assume that as they were reported as working they may well be supplied with the correct connectors.

I don't know much about the subject, I just seem to recall reading that somewhere not so long ago. Maybe someone might remember where they saw it as I have trouble searching using my phone.........note to self, fix my pc!

the mk3 isnt obd2 compliant, it uses Toyotas old bridging diagnostics ports (circular under dash, rectangular under engine cover) to pull error codes, an obd2 reader wont work

I believe the mk4 onwards is compliant for obd2.

According to my Mitchell discs, the MK3 is OBD2 compliant. I found an adapter on a chinese site called Xcar 360 diagnostics and they have a Toyota 17 pin circular to OBD2 16 pin lead. One is on its way to me, so I'll let you know if it works when it turns up.

A USA mk3 is compliant as they had to have obd2 as a standard 1995 onwards. In the UK , we didnt.

I have one of the Toyota adapters too (for the engine bay) it doesnt work on the mk3 LS400 with an OBD2 reader.
