New Is200 Owner - Already Thinking Of Upgrades -Air Filters?

Hi Everyone, only had my IS for 5 days now, originally thought I would keep it as standard but already planning some basic mods etc., just got some HT paint to refresh the callipers and ordered some decals of eBay to finish them off, (just need a good days weather to do it)and also got a wheel refurb arranged, I'm not looking to increase the BHP of the car as I don't drive around at break[neck speed (not anymore anyway) also as from reading other posts I know that is a costly process but would like to know if by fitting a K&N or Pipercross panel filter will this give me a more throaty sound (sorry if I'm asking an age old question but I'm quite new to this) Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Sound yes, power no

Sound change/increase will be marginal with a panel in the standard airbox - an induction kit with cone filter will be more noticeable

If you want power increase, sell it and buy an IS300

Thanks Matt-c, power is not what I'm after, just a little bit more engine roar, for £30 odd think I might go for a panel filter, IS300 might come a bit later, need to keep something a bit smaller for the insurance side for now.

I fitted a K&N panel filter a couple of months ago. The throttle response was improved and the engine generally feels like its breathing better and is more willing to rev. Sound-wise, there's a bit of a mild grunt from around 3K if you accelerate with purpose, definitely a bit throatier than stock. Otherwise its just as quiet as an OEM-style paper filter during normal driving.

It's doubtful if it provides a power increase as I can't really feel one. If there is, it'll be at the very top end of the rev range.
