Cruise Control Not Working

First you need to press the button on the end of the stalk to activate the cruise control system. This will be indicated by a light on the dashboard as you've noticed. This however doesn't yet set your speed, it just activates the system as so to speak.

Then whilst cruising at the desired speed, press the lever down once. This is the same as you'd do if using it to decelerate the car. The current speed will now be set.

Pushing the lever up will accelerate the car, or resume the set speed if you've had to touch the brakes or pulled the lever toward you to cancel the cruise for instance if someone pulls in front of you to overtake someone.

So to reiterate:

Button = Turn on system

Down = Set current speed/ Decelerate

Up = Accelerate/ Resume last set speed.

Pull toward = Cancel cruise. (push up to resume again)
