Exterior Window Weatherstrips

My 2001 LS430 has been sitting unused in my garage for the last 6 months. After charging the Battery (and insuring the car) I took it in for mot. Needless to say it flew through with not even an advisory.

One problem - when winding down the front windows the weatherstrips didn't take any of the rain off. They are dried out and hard. Does anyone have an idea on what it will cost to replace them? Is the dealer going to be the only option?

Since I didn't get a reply I asked the dealer. In case anyone else is interested the dealer price is £169 each, fitted. Will look around for an alternative I think!

Apparently they have now come down to £55.00 each plus a seal kit at £7.00 each.

Telephoneman please allow members time to answer as we don't sit on the forums all the time and also may not know the answer ourselves. :D

Try contacting member ACLex he is the Club's Official dealer and may be able to get you the parts a little cheaper.

BTW are the seals made of rubber? I just wondered if there may be a restorer available which may swell the rubber and provide a better seal.

Thanks Steve, I wasn't having a go, just a bit impatient. Yes, the seals are rubber but it looks like you might have to take off a chrome trim to get at them. I've never seen a restorer of the type you are referring to.

Not sure if this would do the job but for the price compared with new seals perhaps worth considering.

I've got an annoying Draught that whistles when I go above 40mph coming from my drivers door.

Hope this cures it.
