Ok Guys sorry i havent been able to post pics of the new car - just the weather hasnt been great and my brother (BMW sport driver) has been borrowing my car alot (last i saw it was friday) and i suspect i wont get it back till friday now as he takes it to work. Problem is hes such a snob he wont admit openly what a great car it is - but i know he knows its so much better than the BM

Anyways have 2 questions

First of all is the boot - should it open all the way remotely or just an inch and then you have to lift it manually. If the latter should it be heavy - mine heavier than the LS400 but it does stay open i.e the struts dont appear to be weak

secondly the exhaust tips - are they supposed to be a nice shiney chrome finish?? mine are covered in soot at the moment.

i have a 3rd questions about headrest dvd player which is asked in a seperate topic

thanks for your help in advance

The boot just pops when opened remotely or with the button under the right side lip – it does not open all the way (on a 2002 LS430 anyway). The boot lid is very heavy and the struts are rubbish. I replaced mine with third party components and they did not perform well for long. My boot closes like a Rottweiler’s jaws.

My pipes are well hidden by the body work and are not shiny – after 10 years my exhaust is not the work of art it was when the car was new – in fact it looks a bit of a mess when you look underneath but I have been told it is fine.

Cheers

Bren

Hi Mark, yes, the boot only unlocks and pops up a couple of inches, and , yes, the exhaust tips will come up nice and shiny with wire wool or brillo pad.
