had a mark 3 for 3 years and then a mark 4 for 2 years

Last night spotted a very well priced 04 LS430 - couldnt resist so went to view it first thing and done the deal 9am.

The LS430 is so much better - for those of you thinking of upgrading i would reccomend it - the extra gizmos i got over the Mark 4 are:

Reversing camera

front parking sensors

keyless go

colled seats aswell as heated

drinks cooler

folding mirrors

blinds

The 430 is

smoother and quiete - drive is very effortless

seating is very comfortable

seating position higher

gear change is unnoticeable where is the 400 you notice it more especially from cold

keyless go is priceless and it comes with things like puddle lights and tire pressure monitor

I must however add that i think the 430 has more road noise at speed but i could get used to that

car has 110k and had the cambelt changed at 102k in august

very happy - pics to follow soon

Ahh you got it I spotted it last night & phoned today absolute bargain at £3495. I was looking at changing in a year or 2 but at that money & mileage it couldn't be missed. Well done wish i had taken the day off work, Im not sore (much) Glad its gone to someone on here & its going to be appreciated though. Nice colour combo too.

Jammy sod. Knew it wouldn't be around long. So annoyed I lived so far away so couldn't have done anything about it for days. Puts those who are trying to sell similar cars for 8/9 grand in their place!

Out of interest was there anything wrong with it? Does it have a history? Is it damaged in any way?

Congrats on being so quick!

Well spotted and congratulations on a successful deal. Many more years of trouble free luxurious motoring ahead.

I notice there is another 430 with 70k for £3485. Got to be another bargain buy.

thanks guys

the car is in immaculate condition inside out - very well looked after - only a couple of scuffs to sort out - vacuum and perhaps a new set of mats and its good as new

has FSH - part lex part specialist and last one being the cambelt service done in august

guys selling it knew the car from 3 years old as they had MOTd it and was a friend of the owner.

hi

its got bridgstone potenzas all around - that could be reason - i know my bros bmw sport takes them so maybe they are a firmer tyre - the lower profile is also a contributing factor.

stil got to give it my signature valet (weather permitting) - just found out about the rear blind!!!

what a wonderful car - dont know what ive done to deserve though!

Hello,

I currently have a Rx with a camera.( I think it's the same as the one you have but i don,t have one on the LS to confirm). I find that it's easier to ignore the Park Assist mode and have it so you just have the 2 green lines and the 2 curved ones. As you look at the screen the straight lines are the car. Go back into the gap until the line is just short of the kerb then steer to the right and keep the end of the left line just off the kerb. This combined with the dipping mirrors make this the easiest thing to reverse in the 40 years since I passed my test. I must admit that prior to having this feature I had thought it was just a gimmick but it's really great.

How many previous owners?

Is every single thing working in the car? Camera etc?

I thought I got a good deal but 3.5k jesus.

I paid 4.5k for a 2004 ls430 with 80k a few weeks ago.

your tyres are noisy because they are most likely run flats hence the harder compound.

I have same make on my 400 and yes they are very noisy.

every single thing works in the car - camera works - whats really is unbelievable is the condition - the drives seat is almost new

it has a couple of bumper scuffs which will need sorting out

I think Im going to cry stop it. I am really not green with envy :driving: The next thing you will reveal is that you knocked him down for cash. Really though well done I just should have been quicker. For the tyres google them & it should say if they are run flats.

Posted

You dont have runflats, I can tell you this now.

No idea why runflats are being mentioned in this thread.

How many previous owners?

Posted

Without being too much of a thread hi-jacker but could someone tell me the size of the MKII 430's tyres please?

Posted

Hi keith how do i find out if they run flats - will it say on the side wall?

Bridgestones will have RFT in large letters on the sidewall.

Posted

I'd advise Michelin Pilot super sports. I put them on mine, and the ride quality/ road noise reduction is amazing.

How's the MPG on yours by the way? Town stop/start, and Motorway? Mine is about 16'ish town, and 28-30 motorway.

Hi Guys

sorry for the later replies - just been busy driving around (to nowhere) ha ha

Just to answer some of the questions

The car has 2 previous owners - they knew each other

the car doesnt have run flats

the car is a massive improvement over the 400 some of the things i noticed

  • quieter steering motors
  • seats/cabin warm up very quickly
  • interior marks wipe away easily
  • seat very supporting and comfortable
  • brakes alot more responsive
  • throttle also very responsive
  • Audio controls on the steering very helpful

still reading the manual and finding things out - was reading the other day if you close the boot and accidently leave the key in the boot the car will beep - how clever is that!

I do have a small problem - the Nokia ck1w handsfree kit does not connect to my phone - the screen says the code is 1212 - but when i type that in it doesnt connect - an online search reveals that the default code is printed on the connection box which is behind the dash somewhere - so may have to do a bit of dismantling to locate the box in the hope that i can get the handsfree to work.

have given it a vacuum and shampoo and fed the leather - just waiting for some mats.

regards

Yes I would have liked the audio controls on the steering wheel on my MK 4 but a minor nag.

I am on my 5th Lexus (430 now for 10 years) - the previous 3 were 400s and the 430 is not as quiet - by that I mean road noise. I expect is may be to do with the air suspension being stiffer. However I have tried many different tyres and cannot get it as quiet as the old 400s. Don't put cheap crap tyres on as they will be noisey and will not perform well in the winter weather. I am getting deaf as I age with my car so you'ed think it would seem quieter :) The roads are crap these days and add to the noise. Just put something good on the sound system and forget the noise - LED Zep does it for me :)
