Lexus call these 'dust covers', they are the big plate behind the brake discs, if you have any doubt!

I checked mine recently during a routine pad check and whllst one was near perfect, the other

side was falling to pieces and had to be removed.

No problem it's only a shield, I'll get a new one....no I wont, they are no longer available!

Had to get the welder out and try and remake it, difficult, the fixing collar had parted company with the rest of the plate ,leaving no clue where the fixing bolts were located.

Also the whole thing was fitted before the hub was put on, so I had to cut a section out so I could slide it off the hub. [didn't fancy removing the hub just for this]

Anyway I managed to make a repair section and it fitted and worked OK, its not very elegant, there are many folds etc., it's not just flat.

The whole point of this is to remind owners of old cars like me they need to check and at least give 'em a lick of paint...

Mine got "Hammerited" when the discs were off, they were rusty not rotten so hopefully preserved for a few more years.

That is the problem with removing them it a total PITA, I sold the front calipers off the 1997 and the guy ( LOC forum member) also wanted the shields but it was too much grief plus they were well on the way to dust!
