Ok thanks Chris, when the OB2 diagnostic interface was plugged in the fault was re-set, the light has gone out and not returned so should I assume all is ok for now but the fault will probably return.

I would monitor the situation, Chances are it will reoccur, O2 sensors can go out of specification this is not helped by the environment they have to operate in i.e. Cold to hot in a few minutes and subjected to water and road contaminents.

Lexus are quite sensitive to replacements so beware of replacing it with a "universal" type, it may be cheaper but may not do the job long term.

When my light came on I also re set the fault to get the light to go out. It came back on 2 days later. Did the same again, came back on a week later. Chances are it will come back on showing the same code so you will need to get it sorted.

As Steve said, use a genuine Lexus/Toyota part. More expensive in the short term, cheaper in the long term.
