Is220 Handbrake Cable Snapped

my handbrake cable snapped on 56 plate is220 how much do you think to fix this local garge have told me £500 is this right!!?? is a cable and labour really that much based in essex

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

There are 3 handbrake cables on the IS220d a single one from the handbrake lever to the equaliser and then 2 from there to each rear wheel.

Looking at costs the single one should be around £30.00 and the other 2 £60.00 each so if all 3 need replacing £150.00 in parts although you may not need them all. (These are Lexus retail prices)

Fitting should take around 2 hours so £350.00 for labour is a bit OTT I don't think even Lexus charge £175.00 an hour!

I would find out which part(s) you need, buy it yourself from Lexus then get another cheaper fitting quote.
