IS300 (211 bhp) is the cheapest bhp increase you can do..with manumatic gearbox, the car can be driven both like a manual or fully auto and the 2JZ engine is very responsive too and good thing with IS300's engine is you can bump it up to IS-F, M5 beating performance when you boost it! as it hides a detuned Toyota Supra (godzilla) engine... or alternately you can do the suck, bang, blow to the IS200.

Suck - get an induction kit Apexi, HKS, K&N, Blitz!!

Bang - use Denso irriduim performance plugs, performance ignition leads, performance engine oil (Castrol, Mobil, Motul), high octane fuel... these combined can give a bigger bang during compression stroke.

Blow - fit a full performance exhaust system HKS, Blitz etc..

thing is all these can only yeild around 15-20 bhp extra if you lucky but still wont slaughter a stock Civic type R nor a Celica 190 at the lights or even at top end as the 1G-FE engine in the IS200 is not a high revving machine even with VVT-i. so for more power either go bigger cubic capacity(IS300) or Turbo(IS200) which = $$$ for not much bang!

TTE Supercharger kit - about £2k to buy, install yourself and then get set up on a rolling road

Turbo kit - low blow kit is still gonna cost £1500, so might as well go the whole hog and do a proper conversion. Stock internals (rebuild) will handle 280bhp, but expect to pay about £4-£5k fo this power

1G-GTE swap - 2L twin turbo lump from a MKIII Supra. Easy to tune to over 300bhp, but don't expect change from £5-£7k

1JZ-GTE swap - 2.5L twin turbo (MKIII Supra) - see above

Or the daddy swap - 2JZ-GTE from the MK4 Supra; 3L twin turbo, 276bhp (officially) as standard, but as we all know will make a happy reliable 600bhp all day long. After the engine swap, tuning, converting to large single turbo (more power), and changing the transmission to cope, etc etc, don't expect much change from £15-£20k
