Hi Folks,

I have a 2006 400h with inbuilt blue tooth connectivity to pair my phone for making/receiving calls while on the go. Can this be used to play songs on my mobile (android) through the speakers? If yes, please advise how.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

There are after market options which add either or both USB port and Bluetooth which would enable you to play MP3 music using your current car setup, e.g. Steering wheel controls etc.

one such company is below link.

http://www.vaistech.com/product/sl3b-l/

there are other similar products available.

i have used the Vaistech product in my gs450 and it works superb although mine is just USB port without Bluetooth but that was also an option.

I'm a new 400h owner and just fitted a Grom vline - http://gromaudio.com/vline/beta/index.html

I'll try and post more details after the bank holidays but if you can put up with some of the early bugs it will totally transform your infotainment system. Essentially it gives you full android apps on your touch screen, so google maps, spotify etc as well as Bluetooth streaming:

Looks good. Even better if they actually get official CarPlay / Android Auto certification.

Ok, I admit to being thick but that link goes to a page detailing beta testing and saying that you need to live within 50 miles of Belmont, California. Unless Dunbartonshire has moved, I don't see any details for how someone in the UK gets one of these units so please elaborate for us Ross.

Ah it's now out of beta, that link is just the most comprehensive overview of the system. You can pick one up on Grom's UK website:

http://gromaudio.co.uk/products/vl1-infotainment-upgrade/lexus-toyota-2006-2009-grom-vline-infotainment-system-upgrade-video-interface.html

I'll put a more detailed thread up later tonight. It is a fantastic unit (IMO at least) but does have some drawbacks, not least price.

Wow, that is eye-wateringly expensive - a starting price of £440! Then I suppose there'll be a monthly charge for data etc., etc.

I've just had a long weekend in Poland with a few mates for less than half that. Flights, three nights accommodation and all my food and drink (of which there was plenty :wink3: ) came to £215

I know it's all about priorities and I've no doubt it's a great unit, but I just couldn't justify that amount of money for an infotainment system in an 11 year old car.

Thanks for the link though Ross, very interesting.

I had a 2002 Lexus GS300 ran music and telephone through radio at 107.9 through a Scosche wireless handsfree, put in cigarette lighter socket. It has run for 3 years no problem, the phone reception wasn't the best but it worked. I have just bought an RX400h, it has blue tooth for phone but i've now put the scosche in this and it works great. PS If you get one put the volume on your phone on full and control it through dials in car, if you don't have it on full the quality is not the same.
