Excessive Clutch Wear, Can This Cause Engine Light To Come On?

Hi fellow Lexus owners!

I have a Lexus is200 which has needed the clutch changing for a few months. The other day i was driving along and the engine light suddenly came on! i left the car over night and started it the next day, when i start it now there seems to be a very slight loose rattle as if there are small pieces rattling in either the gear box or engine.

I have obviously not driven the car since to avoid and unnecessary engine damage, but my question is could the engine light coming on simply be to do with the clutch and a getting a new clutch could solve both problems or is it defiantly engine damage which would seem unlikely to me as the engine has been fine.

:phone: any previous experiences on a similar problem or knowledge in this area please share

Thanks all Chris

I don't think the light comes on for a clutch!

My mates clutch went on his IS200 and the first he knew about it was when it wouldn't work! so I think you have another problem.

You'll have to get a diagnostic done to get the codes. Until then it's just pure guess work!

Good luck

Chris
