Just noticed recently that during high speeds (motorway driving) i notice that the bonnet is physically moving up and down, never noticed it before but never really looked, i did think it was just the paint colour decieving my eyes but no.. i looked at the bonnet to wing gap and there is definite movement from the bonnet, now i know with wind and aerodynamics etc etc and i have checked to make sure the bonnet is shut properly.. its scares the shiv out of me thinking the bonnet will fly up at any given time.

am i the only headcase out there :whistling:

Is the movement at the front of the bonnet or the rear?

There are rubber bumpers (small black and round) at each corner at the front of the car. if they have been wound down then there may be a little bit of flex at the front. Just wind them up a bit until the bonnet stops moving but not too much so that you have trouble closing it!

Have a look at the whole locking mechanism it could be loose.

If the movement is at the rear then you will have to get some spanners out.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Sean

It's also cured my double locking problem! When I pressed lock twice the indicators wouldn't flash 5 times dis arming the interior sensors. It does know. Guess the bonnet wasn't able to shut properly :)

Does anyone here know what these rubber bonnet bumpers should look like - i think i have half of mine missing as when opening the bonet by using the lever in the cabin it opens but does not spring up at all - just makes an opening sound. My bumpers are flat but there is a hole in the middle that looks like it should be there but it looks like something should be attached to them. Anyone have any ideas - i have tried to upload a picture but cant find a way to do so.

Can't really miss them mate. Open your bonnet, their above your headlamps. 2 little rubber stoppers about the size of a 10p piece. They screw in and out very easily. I have 1 above each headlamp.

hi,. i know this is an old thread but am looking for answers for the bonnet bounce I had. It wasnt bad and when i tightened the 2 little black rubber screws it stopped but the bonnet now looks like the gap between the lip of the bonnet and the front grille is wider than it should be. Can i ask is the is 200 bonnet supposed to have rubber mounts on the UNDERSIDE of the bonnet itself or just on the car itself?

i found out (after i bought this) it had been accident repaired.

When i turn the rubber things the bonnet noise stops but although it locks shut, it doesnt seem to "sit" properly, attached 2 photos, any ideas? Does this look normal?
