Dear Folks - I've had my GS300SE (2005) for a while, and have been very happy with it. I've agreed to part-ex it at a Main Dealer for a GS450hSE-L (June 2010 model with all the extras and 32k miles) with a £17K balance to pay. Am I being rash? Will I notice a big difference (apart from the hole in my bank balance)? I'd appreciate your thoughts as current owners...

Lexus hybrids are a scam. One never gets his money back, no matter how you drive. A similar petrol engine car will always be cheaper. Do you wish to save the planet? You won´t. Gas mileage? A hybrid is always more expensive to purchase. And petro consumption difference is negligible. Do not believe Lexus official pitch.

a 2005/6 GS430 SE-L will have all the toys a GS450h has and enough performance than you will need on UK roads so the only difference of going h will be the silent drive when in town and a bit more economical. but think about this... even if you decide to run a GS430 for lets say a min of 5 years it will still work out cheaper than the initial 17K you have to fork out for the h model plus cost of fuel plus cost of servicing now thats a lot of down payment money without much bang or refinement compared to the 430. I personally will keep the 17K in my bank and start looking for a GS430 but thats what I would do tho.

We thought about the new GS450h, but it was £9k more....'nuff said! SO we went 250 Lux and know that we can buy a heck of a lot of petrol for that much....OK it's a bit slower, but it's still plenty fine for UK roads.
