For you is sport or 300 guys, was just thinking on a spirited drive which tends to kick in first? Is it the lsd or traction control under hard acceleration?

With just 150bhp or so and a light right foot i dont think ive had the tcs kick in before as i havent seen the swervy light on the dash flash or is it still kicking in without me knowing.

Any thoughts as was considering just turning the tcs off.

Hi Dan.

The taction control will only activate when one wheel loses traction, the ECU will then cut the engine power. It wouldn't normally activate under normal driving conditions.

The torsen LSD will allow a certain amount of slip but if one wheel continues to slip the diff will tighten up and make both wheels spin together. Again this would not happed under normal driving.

Thanks lance, so it sounds like the mechanical torsen lsd kicks in first but if that is overcome then the electronics in the traction control would start to kick in.

So no point in turning traction control off really.

I always turn off the traction control, but it's normally the LSD that comes in first.

Typical situation...

Pulling out of a tight turn with a decent amount of acceleration means the LSD causes the inside wheel to lose traction slightly

Which in turn kicks in the TRC and cuts the power for a few seconds

And in my experience, if you are pulling out into a slightly smaller gap than you should be, TRC taking all the power can be dangerous as you can end up with the other car up your ***** because you didnt pull away as fast as expected.

Thanks Sprinter, do you know when the TRC kicks in, do any lights on the dash light up to tell you that it's working? Is it the "swervy car light"?

Yes its the swervy car light that comes on. I suffer with lead foot and poor fuel consumption, but the grin is enormous :D .
