Hey a quick question.

in the morning when i start my is200 X reg the red oil light stays on when its first started and the engine is very tappy but after a short time or a quick low rev it goes off and the noise stops and i topped up oil a few miles back. It was a cheap tesco oil to get me through to get home but iv got a Castrol 5w30 fully and a new oil filter so was going to do a oil change but would this stop the oil light and high tap noises? Thanx

I would drive to my nearest garage and have an oil and filter change done ASAP. but make sure you have topped up before moving the car as an oil light staying on is a sign of low oil level or oil starvation in the most important parts of the engine. so top up with at least a litre to get you goin but make sure you do not over top up i.e do not go above the high mark on the oil dip stick.

Quick fit garage do the oil service which is just an Oil and filter change for about £34. the last thing you want is a cooked engine.

Welcome to the LOC.

What is the mileage on the car? Does it use oil?

If is is fairly high it may be better to use a 10w-40 oil and a genuine Toyota filter.

It may also be useful to have your oil pressure checked by connecting a gauge just to see if there are other problems such as the oil pump or maybe clogged oilways.

Thanx alot for your replies .. Iv got a genuine Lexus filter and Castro oil which is 5w30, took it to a garage and checked what oil it should have it is the 5w30 so going to give it and oil change and see if that helps
