Blue Coolant?

Hi All,

Was just doing the usual check on the car and noticed that my coolant is actually blue?

Searching the forum people seem to go for toyota/lexus red or pink longlife coolant.

Anyone any ideas what coolant is in mine? I'm thinking it's something like this

Should I get this or would it be safe to add the toyota/lexus red coolant now to top it up?

Blue coolant normally has a 2 year lifespan whereas red is the longlife 5 year type.

You can buy the correct red Toyota coolant either ready mixed or in concentrate form when you can mix it yourself with distilled/purified water.

It is not recommended to mix the 2 types (blue and red) due to different characteristics and lifespan so a full drain and refill is the way to go.

toyota comes with red coolant as standard. it can be changed to blue.

as above mentioned, not safe to mix the two, drain & re-fill.

Thanks everyone, any recommendations for the blue coolant and where to buy from? Some folks say you just can't rely on the colour as the blue coolant in the link says its good for 5 years not 2?????
