Outside Temperature Warning

Recommended Posts

Most cars with an outside temperature gauge usually give some kind of warning (be it a noise or actually displaying the temperature) when the outside temperature is around 0 degrees Celsius to warn of ice on the roads. I have read in the IS manual that the temperature will flash for 10 seconds when it is below 3 degrees Celsius but this does not occur on neither of our IS250's. Can anyone confirm that this warning does happen? I have read on the USA forums that this warning does occur for them. I can't find anyway of enabling it and it does not appear in the customisation features list.

It definitely worked on my IS250 SE-L, but haven't noticed it on my IS-F tbh.

Thanks for your reply Tango. This definitely doesn't happen on both of ours. I read somewhere that it only happens when the temp actually drops from 4 to 3 degrees but ive watched this happen and the warning did not flash up. Can anyone else confirm that the warning occurs on there cars before I contact Lexus?

I've seen it work on my IS250 (2007). The thing is, it only happens briefly at the point of transitioning from 4 to 3 degrees C, so it's easily missed if your attention is elsewhere on the few occassions that it happens.

TBH it's a bit of a pointless features IMO.

Agree with dazed! Today noticed mine flash only as the temp fell from 4 to 3degs this morning on way to work. Just happened to have temp on the display rather than the gear in use. Would it cut over the gear display if that was on? (like the really annoying low screen wash warnings). M

Well thankfully the temp display on my GS doesn't flash at ANY temp. I really can't see the point of a temp light flashing for 5 or 10 seconds on a downshift of temperature. Does it flash again when the temp rises above 3 ?
