Engine Rebuild Question?

My Lexus engine was rebuilt just over a year ago with new pistons, rings etc due to the issues some of the early motors had.

My question is, would the rear engine seal have been replaced as I now have a leak from it and wonder if this part should still be under Lexus warranty seeing as they carried out the work.

I should also mention that the work was done whilst under the previous owner.

The early 220d's had lots of issues with blown head gaskets and oil leaks that were covered under warranties but from what i understand from other post in this section is that Lexus will honour head gaskets/oil leaks outside of the warranty period due to the number of issues reported. Theres likely to be a string of conditions attached if that is the case but it is worth checking with your local dealer to see if you are eligible.

I did check and it wasn't, surprise.

I was thinking of tipping in some leak stop by stp.

Apparently it can cure small leaks by expanding seals.

I have no experience of this but it seems like a cheap solution for what is currently a few drops of oil.

I'm not conviced with these seal repair additives but as you say they are a possible cheap solution to the problem.
